DARWIN AUSTRALIA (day 51)
Australia's "top end", the northern most point off the Northern Hemisphere. Surrounded on three sides by the turquoise waters of the Timor Sea. Warm and dry in the winter and hot and steamy in the summer. Today it was 95 degrees and 95% humidity. It seems that between the many disastrous cyclones, beginning in the 1800's and the 60 Japanese bombing raids during WWII Darwin has always had to fight for survival. Old Darwin has been replaced by new contemporary structures that are built to withstand cyclone force winds. Today it is a relaxed and casual place that thrives as an administrative and commercial center of Australia.
We passed on the sightseeing today, time to take a break from being tourists, and played 9 holes of golf at the Sky City Gardens Park, Golf links instead. It was HOT! Somehow the heat did not matter. We needed to play at something...you know that we are not the greatest golfers but, we really enjoyed the game today.
I am having a problem uploading the pictures from today at this time. We will be at sea tomorrow and I will upload the pictures then.
